Jan Matejko

Jan Matejko was one of the most famous painters in the world. He lived in the 19th century in Poland. Matejko painted mainly historical works, we can say that it was his obsession. Matejko often placed on his paintings people who had died long before so he had no models in fact. He was real master in his profession. Everything what he did was absolutely perfect and extraordinary. Matejko had really hard childhood, but he managed to became very good and caring man. He was also staunch patriot. His best works are: „The Battle of Grunwald”, „Tribute to the Prussian”, „Stańczyk”.
