Tadeusz Makowski

Tadeusz Makowski was a Polish painter working in Paris. He was born in Auschwitz in the 1882 studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. He left for Paris in 1908.

First Makowski in his paintings combined many different styles and influences. Later he started his own style, which is a summary of the experience of art - Cubism, Dutch painting and naive realism. The heroes of Makowski's works are mostly children, imagined as small figures in pointed hats. He also painted compositions devoted to different professions for example shoemakers. Among his most important works are „Children’s Band” of 1922, „Flowered Window” of 1926, „Children’s Zoo” from around 1929, and „Sunshine” of 1930. He died in Paris in 1932.
